Practice

Lane Macalester is a Counsel at Buckley Kolar LLP. Ms. Macalester advises companies on enterprise risk matters, including in the development of comprehensive records management programs across an organization. In this capacity, she manages legal, records management and information technology experts through a multi-disciplinary approach that addresses legal, regulatory and business requirements.

In addition, Ms. Macalester counsels clients on federal and state regulatory, transactional and strategic matters, including financial services, insurance, HIPAA and related privacy laws, information technology and e-commerce.  She also represents clients in technology transactions, including outsourcing, joint ventures, licensing, product development and acquisitions, and with regard to e-health and related initiatives before Congress and federal agencies. She participates with coalitions and trade associations focused upon e-commerce.

Professional Activities

Ms. Macalester is a member of the District of Columbia Bar as well as the State Bar Association of Minnesota and the Missouri Bar. She is also a member of the Business Law Section and Health Law Section of the American Bar Association.

Professional Experience

Ms. Macalester has a wide range of experience in insurance, technology, and health care law. Prior to joining Buckley Kolar, Ms. Macalester served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of RxHub LLC. She also served as Regional General Counsel of New York Life’s health insurance division and as Assistant General Counsel for UnitedHealth Group. In addition, she represented clients in insurance matters and in technology outsourcing transactions at the law firm of Shaw Pittman LLP.
